Public Action to Deliver Shelter - PADS

PADS is a network of McHenry County area churches that provides food, shelter, and hospitality to homeless men, women, and children.

Holy Cross partners with Sts. Peter and Paul Parish in Cary on Monday nights. The men, women, and children attend Sts. Peter and Paul for dinner, and then approximately 25 men come to Holy Cross to sleep and have breakfast on Tuesday morning.

We use the fellowship hall to shelter, feed, and help these men each Monday night from 8 PM until 7 AM Tuesday morning. The PADS season runs October 1 – April 30.

Many volunteers are needed to help perform this ministry. Please prayerfully consider giving a few hours each month to help those who are less fortunate and in great need. Contact the church office at 847-639-1702 for information, or visit the site on a Monday night to speak with and observe volunteers.

View our list of volunteer descriptions below to learn how you can help.

In addition to the need for volunteers who can give their time, we are also in need of monetary donations for food as we provide and serve breakfast as well as a sack lunch each week. We rely on our volunteers to help financially support our food needs. You can write a check payable to Holy Cross and indicate it is for PADS and place it in the offering plate, drop it off in the church office or place it in mailbox #51 in the church narthex.

This is a wonderful opportunity to serve our community.
