Our Ministries

Youth Ministry
Our youth ministry serves junior and senior high students, as well as their parents. Our ministry is “Inspired by Christ - Serving under Christ – Growing in Christ.”

Confirmation is also available for youth in 7th grade and above.

Kids For ChristKids for Christ
Kids For Christ (KFC) is a ministry for all children in grades 3–6. KFC meets most Wednesdays from September to the week before Palm Sunday for Jesus Time, games, fellowship and snacks. Other KFC events and outings occur from time to time, as announced before regular worship services. Parents are always welcome to attend Kids For Christ along with their children. Call the Holy Cross church office for an update on our current meeting/event schedule.

Public Action to Deliver Shelter - PADS
PADS is a network of McHenry County area churches that provides food, shelter, and hospitality to homeless men, women, and children. Holy Cross partners with Sts. Peter and Paul Parish in Cary on Monday nights from October 1 – April 30. Approximately 25 men come to Holy Cross to sleep on Monday night and have breakfast on Tuesday morning.

Please prayerfully consider giving a few hours each month to help those who are less fortunate and in great need. Contact the church office at 847-639-1702 for information, or visit the site on a Monday night to speak with and observe volunteers. View our PADS page for more details, including a list of volunteer descriptions and donation information.

OWLSOlder Wiser Lutheran Seniors
The OWLS (Older Wiser Lutheran Seniors) meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month from noon to 3:00 PM in the lower level of the LOFT. They enjoy socializing and get activity input from group members. Bring a sack lunch.
Small Groups
One opportunity to be involved in caring ministry at Holy Cross is through Small Groups. Members of small groups make a commitment to meet weekly or twice a month for 60–90 minutes to live out the great command of Jesus—to love one another—and the great commission—to make disciples of all nations. Small Group members are modern day disciples, ordinary people, and followers of Jesus Christ.
Deaf Ministry
Deaf ministry is an important part of our congregation. We offer interpreted services in both Saturday evening and Sunday morning services. We are blessed that all of our interpreters are also professional signers.

Music at Holy Cross
Holy Cross has two opportunities to worship the Lord in song. Our sanctuary music ministry includes an Adult Choir (high schoolers welcome) and a Handbell Choir. Our LOFT music ministry involves a contemporary praise band. We welcome anyone who can sing or play an instrument.

Foreign and Domestic Mission Work
Holy Cross members volunteer in both domestic and foreign mission work. In the past,we have been involved in local Habitat for Humanity home building, New Orleans hurricane cleanup, and annual youth mission trips. We currently have members involved in mission trips to Central America.
Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML)
LWML is open to all women and meets the second Thursday every other month – January, March, May, July, September, and November at 7:30pm. LWML is responsible for Baptism banners as well as the annual Christmas Mission Tree. The biggest annual event is LWML Sunday, scheduled for the first Sunday in October.
